The what, why, and how of balance…

The What of balance

As there is yin to yang, happiness to sorrow, good to bad , positive to negative, peace to war, light to dark, day to night. Every thing in this nature has a balance.

This is how our nature is. Without a perfect balance it would have been fallen already.

We are a part of nature. As a subordinator, its mandatory to follow the natures rules. Hence, there should be balance within and surrounding us, for us to function — to live. Not just to live, but, to live healthier and happier.

The Why of balance

Let’s understand this with an example. Let’s say you are very determined to achieve something in life. You are focus and have a clear path of how to achieve your goals. You are a hardworking individual. But that alone won’t get you to your end goal. You will also need equal amount of relaxation to keep moving forward. By only working hard, without any enjoyment, relaxation or break, you will eventually burn yourself out and might want to quit because of exhaustion.

If you want to loose weight, you can’t do exercise 24x7. You need to have a sound sleep and additional nutrition for your torn muscle to heal. Similarly, you need some vacation from your daily routine to come back stronger and energized to work with more efficiency.

The how of balance

Balance can be found by simple changing your daily schedule, by cutting off some time of your usual work with something that you actually love to do. This work doesn’t necessarily need to have a meaning. It doesn’t have to be something that will help you in your goal. This work should be something that truly makes YOU happy. It can be your hobby or some activity that you are willing to do since a long time, but were occupied with your daily task which delayed it for you. Meeting a friend, going out for clubbing, quality time with your partner, playing with your kids, cooking something delicious, going on an adventure, trying out photography… it can literally be anything that makes you truly happy.

When you do something that is positive, you balance out the negative (the anger, stress, sadness, hate, jealousy, guilt, fear, loneliness) of your life. Balance is the rule of nature. No matter how much you try to emphasize on one thing, the opposite will come to you — be it good or bad.

It’s like the two sides of the coin, the two poles of the magnet. Even if you cut the magnet or coin from between, the new end automatically becomes the opposite. You cannot rule out the other.

Ever wonder why a problem hits you whenever you are having some happy time in your life. You feel like your life doesn’t want you to be happy. It’s just the next phase of your life. This happens because the nature has to follow her unshattered rule.

Without perfect balance, it will be difficult to value each emotion without the other. You need to be poor to value the rich, sadness to value happiness, night to experience light…

If you are in the midst of any problem or you don’t know the next phase of you life, I will just say just keep going. Keep moving through and you will find the light at the end of dark tunnel.
